Genesis 28:20-22 (NIV) - "Then Jacob made a vow, saying, 'If God will be with me and will watch over me on this journey I am taking and will give me food to eat and clothes to wear so that I return safely to my father’s household, then the Lord will be my God and this stone that I have set up as a pillar will be God’s house, and of all that you give me I will give you a tenth.'"

Reflection: Jacob made a significant vow to God during a pivotal moment in his life when he fled from his brother Esau. He promised that if God would be with him and provide for him, he would worship the Lord and give a tithe of everything received. Yet, as we follow Jacob's story, it becomes evident that he may have forgotten this commitment amidst his struggles and achievements. This devotional invites us to reflect on our own promises and vows made to God and consider how we prioritize them in our lives.

Questions for Reflection:

1. Personal Vows: What vows or commitments have you made to God in moments of desperation or longing? Are there specific areas in your life where you feel you've strayed from those commitments? Take a moment to write them down, acknowledging them before God.

2. God's Faithfulness: Reflect on the times when God has been present in your life, providing for you or guiding you. How does recognizing God’s faithfulness encourage you to revisit your own vows and commitments?

3. Renewing Your Vow: Consider how you might renew your commitment to God today. What practical steps can you take to ensure that your relationship with Him remains a priority, and how can you demonstrate gratitude for His faithfulness in your life?
