Devotional: Celebrating Christ's Victory Over Evil

Question 1: How Can You Live in Light of Christ’s Triumph?

Scripture: Colossians 2:15

“He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame by triumphing over them.” As we reflect on Aslan’s resurrection and its parallel to Jesus’ victory, consider what “rulers” or authorities in your life may be undermining your faith. In what areas do you need reminding of Christ’s victory? C.S. Lewis said, "The Son of God became a man to enable men to become sons of God." How does understanding your identity in Christ empower you to confront and overcome these challenges?

Question 2: How Does Christ's Victory Over Death Transform Your Perspective?**

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15:55-57

“O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” As you meditate on the assurance of victory over death that Christ provides, reflect on your own feelings about mortality. In what ways can you confront the fear of death with the hope of resurrection? C.S. Lewis reminds us, "You cannot go on 'explaining' away forever: you will find that you have explained explanation itself away." How can you embrace the deeper truths of Christ’s victory rather than rely solely on human understanding?

Question 3: In What Ways Are You Called to Be a Light of Hope and Courage?

Scripture: Revelation 20:10

“The devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire.” As we find comfort in the ultimate defeat of evil, how can this knowledge influence your daily choices and interactions? C.S. Lewis noted, "When the whole world is running towards a cliff, he who is running in the opposite direction appears to have lost his mind." What countercultural actions can you take to embody the hope and courage that comes from Christ’s victory over evil? How can you share this truth and hope with others who may be struggling in a world filled with despair?

Conclusion

As you ponder these questions, remember that the story of Aslan serves as a powerful metaphor for the ultimate victory we have in Jesus Christ. We are invited not only to celebrate this victory but also to live it out boldly and share it with others. Let us take to heart C.S. Lewis's words: "Perhaps you were sent to this moment for such a time as this." Reflect on how you can shine the light of Christ's victory in your life and in the lives of those around you.
