Devotional Title: The Power of Sacrifice

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."* – John 3:16 (NIV)

Question 1: The Ultimate Gift of Love

What does the sacrifice of Jesus teach you about the nature of love and selflessness in your relationships?

Reflection: Consider the ultimate gift of love that God offers through His Son. How can you express love in your life in a way that mirrors this selfless sacrifice? Reflect on the words of C.S. Lewis, where worship focuses our attention on God. How can you ensure your actions align with this perspective?

"But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed." – Isaiah 53:5 (NIV)

Question 2: Bearing Our Sin

How does understanding the weight of sin affect your view of Jesus’ sacrifice?

Reflection: Consider how Jesus bore our sins on the cross, carrying the weight of our failures and providing peace through His sacrifice. How does this acknowledgment of our fallen nature guide you toward gratitude and an understanding of God’s grace? Reflect on how the parallel of Aslan’s sacrifice for Edmund deepens your appreciation for Christ's atonement.

"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." – Romans 5:8 (NIV)

Question 3: Demonstration of Love

In what ways can you demonstrate unconditional love to others, reflecting Christ's sacrifice?

Reflection: Contemplate the transformative power of love that transcends conditions as illustrated by Jesus’ sacrifice. How can you apply this to situations in your life where forgiveness or love feels inexcusable? Reflect on C.S. Lewis’s words about forgiveness and consider how embracing Christ's unconditional love can inspire you to share that love with others, similar to Aslan’s redemptive act in Narnia.
